DO YOU NEED HELP WITH TRAVEL OR ODD JOBS AROUND THE HOUSE?
We have been approached by RCC to look into if a Good Neighbourhood Scheme is needed in our area.
Good Neighbour Schemes (sometimes known as village care schemes) are set up and run by local residents who offer help and support to fellow residents of their town or village.
Volunteers do not take on tasks best suited to trained professionals or the emergency services but can help out with the occasional things that can make all the difference, such as:
- lifts to the shops or doctors
- collecting shopping
- small household jobs such as changing a light-bulb or putting up picture frames
- walking the dog- popping round for a chat over a cup of tea
Or anything else that one neighbour might do for another.
If this is something you think will help you please comment on this post or email clerk@cottesmoreparishcouncil.org.uk to register your interest in USING this service.
Please do not email regarding helping with this service, just yet, as we need to work out if there is a need for it in the community first. Once we have worked out if there is a need for this scheme we look at recruiting volunteers and supplying DBS checks.
